COMPUTERIZED VIDEOKERATOSCOPES Basic Procedures to Capture an Image The pattern is aligned on the patient’s cornea, by the use of a joy stick or keyboard, while viewing the eye in the monitor. The different instruments have different alignment guides which are seen on the screen. In addition to proper alignment, the pattern is brought into focus. Many instruments have automated the final focusing. Once the patient is positioned and the instrument aligned the patient is asked to blink and then stare at the fixation target. The image is then captured by pressing the appropriate button on the instrument. Consult the section of the particular instruments for details of how to take the images and use some of the common topographers (from the topography menu).
